Our Story
We are Carismatic Cars — and we are not just another car rental company. We are your neighbours, your local guides, and your partners in exploring this beautiful kingdom we call home.
Tom Churchyard and Lindi Zwane started Carismatic Cars in 2018 with one vehicle and one idea: make it genuinely easy and affordable for visitors and locals alike to get around Eswatini. They had noticed that reliable, fairly priced vehicle hire was harder to find than it should be — so they decided to sort that out themselves.
Today, the fleet has grown to ten honest, pre-loved vehicles, each with a name and a personality — and the ethos hasn't changed one bit: good cars at sensible prices, friendly service, and the kind of local knowledge that no GPS can give you.

Good to Know, Before You Go
No scary contracts. No nonsense.

Minimum rental period
5 days. Shorter rentals occasionally possible — ask us.
Insurance & servicing
All vehicles are fully serviced, fully insured, and include breakdown cover across SADC. In the event of a claim, the standard excess is up to 10% of the claim value.
Vehicle insurance does not cover personal medical expenses — we recommend having your own travel or medical cover in place.
Excess Reduction Option
Reduce your excess from 10% to 5% of any claim value by adding the Excess Reduction Option at SZL 50 per day. Select it at the time of booking.
Mileage
Unlimited, with 1,000 km per week included. Beyond that, SZL 2/km applies, calculated on the odometer readings at handover and return.
Fuel
Vehicles are handed over with a full tank and should come back full. If returned short, we refuel and charge the fuel cost plus a SZL 150 administration fee.
Cross-border travel
South Africa and Mozambique allowed (an extra fee and deposit apply on some bookings). Please let us know before you go — a quick WhatsApp is all it takes.
Who can drive
Minimum driver age 21, with a valid licence. All drivers must be listed on the rental agreement before they get behind the wheel. International visitors need an international driving permit.
Collection & return
Mbabane, Monday–Saturday, 08:00–17:00, unless otherwise arranged. After-hours collections by prior arrangement; unscheduled after-hours incur a SZL 200 fee per occurrence.
Airport transfers (pick-up and drop-off) available — reach out for a quote.
Late return
SZL 200 per day (or part thereof) where grace-period conditions are not met. We are flexible where we can be — just keep us in the loop with 12+ hours' notice.
Tyres and undercarriage
Standard vehicle insurance does not cover tyres, wheels, or undercarriage damage — these are the driver's responsibility. If damage results from genuinely unavoidable road conditions rather than driver error, we'll assess the situation fairly.
Call-out fee
SZL 4 per km (one-way from our base) where a call-out results from driver error — incidents, negligent flat tyre, dead battery, etc.
Prohibited uses
No off-road driving without prior consent. No towing, racing, or sub-letting. No carrying of paying passengers (no taxi or ride-share work). No smoking or vaping inside the vehicle — a SZL 1,000 cleaning charge applies if this happens.
Deposit & payment
No deposit and no credit card needed for standard bookings — just your ID and valid driving licence.
Payment options: cash, EFT (UK / Eswatini), credit card (Visa / MasterCard), MTN MoMo and Standard Bank Unayo.
If something goes wrong
Call us within 12 hours of any incident. Report to police as required by law. Do not admit fault at the scene. Collect the other party's details and take photographs if safe to do so. For vehicle theft, call police immediately and notify us within 2 hours.
Traffic fines
All fines and penalties during the rental period are the driver's responsibility and must be paid promptly.
Your data
Used solely to administer your rental. Not shared with third parties except as required by law or by our insurers.

From King Mswati III International Airport
≈ 70 minutes
Head west on the main road following signs toward Manzini/Mbabane. Use the Manzini Bypass to avoid the city centre, then continue north on the MR3 direct to Mbabane. Exit at the first Mbabane off-ramp, then double back down the hill as if heading toward Ezulwini. Our office is approximately 300 m down on the left, just after the old Swazi Inn gate.
